Scholarly Activity and Resident Engagement

Our residency program fosters a culture of scholarly inquiry, leadership, and professional development. Residents are encouraged to participate in scholarly activities such as quality improvement initiatives, case reports, and research projects, with faculty mentorship available to support these efforts. Opportunities exist to present work at local, regional, and national levels.

All residents participate in the annual BMME Grand Rounds/Scholarly Symposium, typically held in May in Memphis, Tennessee. This system-wide event brings together trainees from across Baptist Memorial Medical Education and provides an opportunity for residents to engage in scholarly presentations and collaborative learning.

In addition, residents play an active role in program development and community engagement through participation in resident-led committees, including:

• Research and Career Development

These experiences provide meaningful opportunities for residents to collaborate with faculty, contribute to program growth, and develop leadership skills that will support their future careers in medicine.
